Scope of Activity:Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is a leading national research institution with over 55 years of experience in the field of electrochemical energy systems, which is well internationally recognized. The scientific priorities of IEES-BAS are directly related to the immediate needs of the Bulgarian economy for new ecological, environmentally harmless energy sources, as well as in line with EU strategies aimed at innovation and scientific research to change the way clean, secure and sustainable energy is generated, stored and used worldwide. IEES-BAS carries out fundamental and applied scientific research, consulting and expert activities, and training of highly qualified specialists in the following thematic areas:• electrochemical power sources, including lead batteries, lithium batteries, Ni/Zn batteries; metal-air systems and supercapacitors;• hydrogen energy systems, including electrolysers, fuel cells and hydrogen pumps and compressors;• electrochemical materials science; electrochemical methods, techniques and tools.
