| Scope of Activity: | The Bulgarian Atomic Forum Association, established in June 2001, is a non-governmental organization that includes engineering and construction companies, equipment suppliers and individuals - experts in the field of nuclear energy.
The main goals of BULATOM are:
• To influence the formation of an objective public opinion on nuclear energy as part of the balanced energy policy of Bulgaria;
• To protect the interests of the Bulgarian nuclear industry, both to the state institutions and to the European institutions through the European Atomic Forum;
• To coordinate the activities of its members in the preparation of technical expertise for state and non-governmental organizations in the country as well as for international institutions on issues related to the Bulgarian nuclear energy.
The Bulgarian Atomic Forum is a member of the European Atomic Forum (Nucleareuropå) - the European Nuclear Industry Association.
In order to achieve its goals, Bulatom seeks to participate fully in the ongoing debate in Bulgaria and Europe on the implementation of the European Commission's Green Europe targets, while at the same time defending the interests of the Bulgarian nuclear industry in discussions on the energy future of Bulgaria and Europe. At local level, Bulatom has been actively involved in the preparation of the Vision for the Development of the Electricity Sector of Bulgaria until 2053, defending the need for the construction and commissioning of 4 nuclear power units. |
